For more than thirty years we have been teaching the remarkable tools of NLP and guided imagery. The finest therapists, teachers and lecturers working in the field in Israel today studied with us.
We founded the college together, Daphna and Amir Retter, in 1994, and it gives us enormous satisfaction to watch the field develop in Israel and grow alongside our college. We started out as the only college (yes, really, we were the first), when nobody knew or understood what NLP is.
Since then the method has gained real momentum in Israel, and our college has become a success story, with branches across the country, and international recognition and appreciation.
Over the years we have noticed that our college attracts people who, at their core, want to make a positive difference in society and who want to make their own lives, and the lives of those around them, better.
And indeed, we are proud to say that every year the people who come to study with us include:
People who want to enter the world of therapy, and are looking for serious training that truly changes other people's lives
Young adults after military service, people in midlife, who want to retrain for a new career, people nearing retirement, and more.
Coaches and therapists who have learned all sorts of tools and completed various trainings, and who want to complete their professional toolbox with tools that reach deep into the subconscious, bypass their clients' resistance and produce results.
Educators, social workers and youth leaders, who want to make an even bigger difference and help the people around them live better lives.
Psychologists and therapists, who are looking for tools for guiding processes that fit the pace and the life of the 21st century.
Consultants from a wide range of fields, who want to help their clients achieve more meaningful results by changing thinking patterns.
Managers who want to contribute,to motivate and improve the results of the team they work with, and to reach the organization's goals.
People who live and breathe personal development, and want to acquire tools to improve their own lives and the lives of their family and loved ones.
The leading therapists in Israel studied at our college
Here are the advantages that make our college the ideal place to study NLP and guided imagery
Comprehensive, advanced studies:
We train practitioners at every existing level, from NLP Practitioner to NLP Trainer, and our programs are considered the most comprehensive and advanced in Israel and worldwide. Our goal is simple: to lead our students to complete NLP Master Practitioner at the very least, and to help them become leading professionals, with every tool they need to change people's lives and earn a respectable living from it.
Exclusive learning materials:
Over the years we have written content, lesson plans and study materials, collected in more than 20 unique books in the field of NLP. Our study materials include explanations and process descriptions down to the finest detail. Our study materials are accompanied by videos that demonstrate processes and explain them in full detail, making the knowledge accessible to our students. Their quality has become a byword in the NLP world, and they are in great demand in Israel and abroad.
A meaningful learning experience:
Over the years we have refined and developed teaching techniques that make learning even more meaningful. Alongside the professional training, our students go through a deep process with themselves, because it matters greatly to us that they integrate the method into their own lives. And it proves itself: even before they finish the training, many tell us that the studies simply changed their lives. If you would like to speak with some of them, we will gladly connect you.
A family atmosphere and close support:
Retter College carries our family name, and not by chance. We founded the college at the same time as we started our family, and our children have lived NLP since they were small. Our children are involved in what happens at the college, have studied the method and work in NLP. Family is a value that matters deeply to us, so even though we are the largest college in Israel in this field, the model we built for our studies preserves a homey, family atmosphere in every group. The groups are small and intimate. Every five students receive close personal support and coaching from a more senior student. The bonds that form between participants are warm and close, and stay with them for many years. From your very first day at Retter College, we see you as part of our extended family.
Accessible studies close to home:
Our college has 12 branches across Israel, and our courses are accessible to people with impairments and disabilities. With us, distance and physical limitations are no obstacle to success in your studies. Honestly, this is one of the things that gives us the greatest satisfaction: knowing that people from all over the country, from north to south, with or without disabilities, can study NLP comfortably and close to home, in person, at one of our 12 branches for NLP studies in Israel, or online.
Groundbreaking models and processes:
The rich experience we have gathered as therapists and teachers lets us pass on to our students groundbreaking models that we developed ourselves from years of clinical experience, and whose results surprise us and our students again and again.
Studies with international recognition:
Retter College is recognized as an educational institution by the prestigious ABNLP, an organization that recognizes only very established and experienced institutions in the field. This honorable approval has to be renewed every year. To the best of our knowledge, Retter College is the only one that has earned this recognition, and with great effort.
Specializations and enrichment workshops:
The success of our graduates matters to us. That is why we do everything we can to give them the best tools for success. We offer them continuing studies with a range of specialization tracks, so they can develop expertise in different areas: treating children, weight issues, attention and concentration disorders, trauma and anxiety, supporting cancer survivors, training as teachers and facilitators of workshops and courses, and more. Our students also enjoy visits from well-known, leading guests from abroad, and workshops on a variety of topics and models: couples communication, Time Line Therapy, the New Code, marketing your clinic, and more workshops to enrich the professional toolbox.
Our studies are recognized by study funds (keren hishtalmut), for teachers on sabbatical, by the Keren Yeda fund for state employees, for mothers whose children attend subsidized TAMAT daycare centers, as professional training for retired IDF career personnel, and more
One of the things we love to see is how, in our different classes, a wide variety of people from every part of society come together, people who in all likelihood would never have met under other circumstances: Religious and secular students study with us side by side, Jews together with Arabs and other communities, right-wingers beside left-wingers, young people beside older people in their retirement years – a broad human mosaic whose common denominator is the wish to make the place where we live a better place, with the tools of NLP.
Our story with NLP – a love story that keeps bearing fruit
We (Daphna and Amir Retter) first met on a trip to India. We both decided to learn the method for the first time, at an international NLP center that happened to be set up in India. We studied with a Western teacher who had learned the method from its developers in the United States, together with people from all over the world who had come to learn the wonders of the method – it was a magical and enriching experience.
In India we saw the first results of the method, both on ourselves and on others who studied with us and from us. We were astonished by the speed, the depth and the power with which the changes happened. Very quickly we understood that NLP was not just another “passing method” in our lives, but that we had found our calling and our future.
We came back from India as a couple with great enthusiasm and a big vision: to help as many people as possible make a change in their lives with NLP, in any area where they feel stuck, pain, helplessness or a wish to fulfill themselves.
Retter College and our own family were born at more or less the same time, in the mid-1990s. Few people in Israel knew the method then; it was still in its infancy. During this period we treated many people, kept learning, and taught courses to train practitioners and therapists.
In 1998 our first book, “Communication with the Subconscious” (in Hebrew), was published. The book was distributed in the major bookstore chains, and thousands of copies were sold in less than a year. That was when people all over the country began to take an interest in the method. During this period we traveled the length and breadth of Israel, reaching big cities and small communities we had never known, devoting all the energy and resources at our disposal to telling more and more people about NLP, and to teaching and training therapists and practitioners throughout the country.
Retter College grew quickly, and we began training teachers to join us in teaching the method. For about ten years we were the only college in Israel in this field. The field later developed, but to this day Retter College continues to lead NLP in Israel, and it is the largest and, of course, the longest-established college in the country for training NLP practitioners and therapists.
Retter College is recognized and esteemed around the world thanks to our unique approach to teaching and a quality of learning considered among the highest in the world. This is attested by the developers of the method, John Grinder and Robert Dilts.
Robert Dilts – one of the world's foremost NLP trainers and a developer of the second generation of NLP: “They are among the best in the world”
Robert Dilts on Retter College
And Grinder wrote to us:
Dear Daphna and Amir, First, I would like to thank you personally for the excellent experience in Israel. I was enchanted by the quality of your students and I am eager to have more learning experiences of this kind. This is a great compliment to you both as trainers.
To help you understand just how powerful NLP is, we want to share two small-but-big stories from our personal lives, which show how NLP can change the reality of a life:
Daphna Retter's story
How I lost 32 kilos (about 70 pounds) and kept the weight off for years.
For years I struggled with excess weight. Like many people, I tried various diets, and although I tried hard and wanted it badly, in the end I put all the weight back on, and then some. With the tools of NLP I was able to break free of sugar and carbohydrates, lose weight and keep it off. The tools of the method allowed me to quit dieting for good, to reprogram my body and mind, to settle at a weight 32 kilos lower than my weight back then and, most importantly, to keep that weight off for years.
Amir Retter's story
How I went from a person who stuttered to a teacher who lectures in front of hundreds of people.
Since childhood I suffered from stuttering and insecurity; you can imagine how much that affected me socially. Even as an adult, the insecurity and the stutter kept shaping my life, and although I wanted something different, I went to study electrical engineering at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, just so I could sit in front of a computer all day and avoid being around people. I lived on a path of avoidance and compromise for years, until I encountered NLP, and as a result of the training I went through I was freed from the stutter. Today I lecture fluently, with great confidence, even in front of hundreds of people.
Alongside our work in NLP, our dear family took shape too: a wonderful partnership and five grown children who have breathed NLP since infancy. The NLP atmosphere is felt in every sentence spoken at home. We treat our children with NLP and guided imagery, and manage to solve on our own most of the challenges that parenthood so abundantly provides, in health, and in various behavioral and emotional problems.

Questions and answers about Retter College
When was Retter College founded, and what is its standing in the field of NLP in Israel?
Retter College was founded in 1994 by the married couple Daphna and Amir Retter, and it is the longest-established, pioneering and leading institution in Israel for training NLP and guided imagery practitioners. Over three decades of extensive clinical and teaching activity, the college has trained more than 6,000 graduates and active therapists. Today, most of the professionals, lecturers and heads of NLP schools operating in Israel grew and were educated on the unique teaching method of Retter College.
What certifications and diplomas do the college's graduates receive, and are they internationally recognized?
The college's training programs award international professional certificates that are officially recognized by the world's leading institutions. Retter College is recognized and approved by the prestigious ABNLP in the United States, the international IN organization, the ITA organization (headed by NLP co-founder Prof. John Grinder, for whom Retter is the official representative in Israel), and the global GTC community led by Robert Dilts. Graduates of the full track are entitled to official certificates at the NLP Practitioner and NLP Master Practitioner levels, which enable them to work in the field and open an independent clinic.
What makes the college's approach to therapy and study unique?
The central distinguishing feature of Retter College is the built-in synergy between the world of NLP and the world of guided imagery and advanced in-depth techniques such as Time Line Therapy. We believe that an excellent practitioner must first experience the power of the tools on themselves. That is why the studies combine in-depth theory with rigorous experiential practice in small groups, with every practice group closely and personally accompanied by an assistant and senior teaching faculty, in a supportive, family atmosphere.
Are studies at the college recognized by study funds (keren hishtalmut) or for retired security-forces personnel?
Yes. All courses at Retter College are recognized and approved for teachers and educators on sabbatical through study funds (keren hishtalmut), institution code 2857. The college is also recognized as an official, approved provider for the Ministry of Defense for retirees, those completing their service and wounded IDF veterans (provider number: 992013). In addition, funding and subsidies for studies are available through the Keren Yeda fund for state employees, TAMAT daycare centers, and more.
Where are the courses held, and is it possible to study remotely?
To make the world of NLP accessible to every part of society, Retter College operates 12 in-person study branches spread across Israel, from north to south, all fully accessible. Alongside the in-person studies, the college offers dynamic live online study tracks via Zoom, enabling an interactive learning experience, practice in pairs and full support – straight from home and with maximum convenience.
